  • Great wisdom here. When we think that an individual’s experience of humiliation and memories of small slights and hurts inflicted day after day can influence the shape of a whole life Susan is really talking about changing neural pathways as well as improving people’s mental and physical health. Although each experience of belittling or derision might seem harmless, repeated episodes leave scars, especially when accumulated over months and years.

    If we could only integrate this kind of mindful communication into teacher training so that our children could learn before they realise they are learning.
