Andrew Sawtelle, of AmeriCorps*VISTA and Hudson River Housing, Inc. and Matthew Slaats, an artist, are involved with Middle Main and OpenHouse Poughkeepsie. They are part of a group of residents, business owners and operators, and concerned citizens interested in building a stronger Main Street in Poughkeepsie.

This summer he is taking his second small-watercraft trip down the Mississippi River from its headwaters to the Gulf of Mexico. His trip will serve to bring attention to issues of water pollution and river recovery.
